Well well well… look who wants to know more •
The terrible moment has arrived, those awkward minutes when I have to talk about myself.
Truth be told, I've been looking for a girlfriend for years but I didn’t succeed. None of my profiles on dating apps have been attractive; so I thought perhaps a website will help me demonstrate my impressive design skills, engaging writing and artistic judgement.
Although it may seem like it's the first time I've put two ideas together, I work in marketing and have written on various platforms personally and professionally for various brands over the years. Just so you know…
Fun fact: I speak three languages (español, english and français) but I don't like my voice in any of the three.
While others in their 20s partied, started their own businesses or travelled the world; I devoted myself to:
Writing. Not because I loved writing, it was a tool to get me through depression (spoiler alert, it didn’t work; however the habit stuck).
Photography. I think the idea of shooting a photo is amazing - are you telling me that I can freeze time and go back to a specific moment whenever I want?
Films. Step 1: Have an idea. Step 2: Make the idea a reality. Step 3: Don't hire Kevin Spacey.
Music. When I was a little Nicolás I used to turn over some plastic chairs we had at home, put pots on the legs, take my mum's crochet needles and then try to explain with sounds what I couldn't explain with words. Beautiful times.
Why the f*ck this website is called Burn The Ships
Ok, I buy your idea, but…
-
I thought the name was cool.

To encourage his men, Hernán Cortés ordered the burning of the ships in which his group of colonists arrived from Cuba to Veracruz.
Therefore, the only way they would be able to return to their country and see their families was to conquer those lands and exploit their resources.Years later, my family and I found ourselves in a similar situation where we had to burn our boats (unfortunately, it is only metaphorical). We left friends, family, contacts, work, language, traditions, culture… our home.
This led us to pack our bags and emigrate to France. A country that now feels like ‘milk and honey’; nevertheless, if you remember the story well, Joshua had to slay giants to keep that fruitful land. So here we are, trying to conquer this, and make it our new home.
Haha, we played them the ‘reverse’ UNO card.
Now, it’s my family’s mantra. -
One of my favourite quotes is from the former ecuadorian president Sixto Durán Ballén's: ‘Ni un paso atrás!' (Not one step back!) but it's too long and, well, Hernán Cortés' quote is more catchy and does the job too.
