Windows, Walls & Sunglasses
Between windows or walls, I’d choose windows. Always.
Walking through the streets of Paris, I often noticed something curious — many apartments had no curtains. Just wide-open windows exposing curated interiors, impeccable taste, and that subtle je ne sais quoi that made me want to step in and see more — even though I knew I couldn’t. That’s exactly what a good pair of sunglasses should feel like.
Sunglasses send a message about how close someone can get. Yeah, I know — I'm not reinventing the wheel here. But stay with me.
See, a pair of semi-transparent lenses are like windows that says “look, don’t touch”. There’s allure, invitation, mystery. Meanwhile, dark, opaque lenses are walls that scream “get out of my way, bitch”. They block. They shield. They dominate.
That’s why I think of sunglasses not just as accessories, but as architecture. Portable façades. Glass-walls that say something long before you ever do.
Brands I recommend to keep an eye on are A.KJÆRBEDE, Meller, Jimmy Fairly, or the good old Oliver Peoples, because they understand this — their designs don’t just cover your eyes; they project attitude.
And maybe the question isn’t what sunglasses should I wear?
But rather: what do I want people to feel when they see me through them?
